    The Legacy

What kind of legacy is the Republican Party leaving our children and our children’s children? A party that was strong on moral issues now supports decadence and sodomy. A party that stood for fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets, and a smaller federal government has spent money like drunken sailors; the budget deficit will be $9.5 trillion by 2014; and under Ronald Reagan and George W Bush, four cabinet positions have been added to the federal budget. These actions are from a party that controls Congress and the Presidency. Where does the Republican Party really stand on any issue? Can we really trust a party that talks with a fork tongue?

The Republican Party stood for privacy and citizen rights and it also stood for states’ rights over federal rights. Let us not forget that the Republican Party also stood for

strong local control over federal control. With the Patriot Act the law of the land citizens no longer have their freedoms and their rights. The Republican Party appears to have gone schizophrenic on many issues. Is the party also willing to sell its soul to all the special interest groups for votes? The Republican Party has left us a sad legacy. All we have now are the memories of a once great party. I ask the party leaders, “Why, oh why, have you forsaken me”.

Let us look carefully at Bush and his legacy. His insensitivity is well documented: he appears to be a psycho; he lies constantly; he permitted 9/11 to happen; invading Iraq was stupidity beyond belief, he is a murderer and a war criminal; he was appointed emperor by fraud; he is lazy; and Katrina reveals the true emperor who is incompetent, inept, clueless, pathetic, useless, and worthless. Bush was even a sorry excuse for a ruler.

    Proportionality

Moral decisions in and of themselves cannot be considered immoral unless you know proportionality. There are three actions to consider in proportionality, such as intentions, circumstances, and consequences. I cannot judge Bush and Obama but I have perceptual opinions.

Here are my perceptual opinions regarding Bush’s attack and Obama’s policies and practices upon Iraq.

Intention – Bush wanted to make himself look like a big man to his father and to himself. Oil may have also been an intention as well as permanent military bases. Obama’s continuous policies and practices of the Bush administration reveal more clearly that oil is a big factor in our attack of Iraq.

Circumstances – Bush lied to Americans that Iraq was an imminent threat to America’s safety and security. Obama offers more elegance in his lying to the American people. If we do not go into Iraq, they will come here and we will no longer be safe and secure. Do we feel safer and more secure now? The American government controls Americans through fear. Our government will always find a scapegoat to blame and in turn to control our people more and more.

Consequences – Bush’s decisions laid the groundwork for war crimes, mass murders, crimes against humanity, torture, and rape of a foreign land. Americans have their freedoms and rights taken from them through the Patriot Acts. Obama has also embraced the Patriot Acts and the war in Iraq. Both Bush and Obama are war criminals. Obama continues with Bush’s policy of crimes against humanity.

America’s economy is such that the middle class is being dissolved. Contracts are given to boyfriends and Americans do not know where the money is going.

Bush’s attack upon Iraq raises proportionality to a level that his decision to attack Iraq is an immoral act. Obama continues a disproportional attack upon Middle Eastern countries, such as Pakistan and Yemen. Grave eternal consequences are upon these persons and their souls and also with the people and their souls who have agreed with these brutal and inhumane actions upon the Middle Eastern people. Obama’s drone policy is an immoral act with grave consequences.

@WhiteBear, I, too, would like to hear Thom's comments on our probable Iran attack. I will include an article in my next comment. Obama is more of a war criminal than Bush II. Try to figure that one out!!!

"Lunch with Bernie" and the whole Thom Hartmann "shtick" is getting more than a little tiresome. Thom is clearly protecting the Senator from any real discussion of Obama and the Democrats failure to present and fight for a genuine progressive agenda. We have proof positive from the Wikileaks revelations that the US government is involved in an unwinable, immoral and genocidal war in Afghanistan (not news to me). These revelations are dismissed by the Senator with the lame "We need to find a better way of dealing with the Taliban and international terrorists". End of discussion. On to the next attack on the despicable minority Republicans. And the Democratically controlled congress, like the trained monkeys they are, vote for $Billions more every time the Pentagon demands it. Furthermore, Obama is actively supporting the creation of a surveillance police state (see Washington Post "Top Secret America") by requesting more warrantless spying on Americans, this time their emails. Nothing has changed. It's all for show and in the margins. It's Dubya Redux. The wars and subjugation continue. The Banksters rule and the Pentagon and Militarists continue their insanity. Progressives who fall for this and vote for Democrats are FOOLS.

I can't wait for Thom to rationalize Obama's impending attack on Iran. That should be something.

    Ordinary People

I would like to take sometime to write about ordinary people who exhibit extraordinary behaviors. These behaviors from ordinary people offer me not just joy but the possibility of hope for our world.

There are five such people that I will discuss but you and I know that there are more people who also exhibit extraordinary behaviors.

The first person is American soldier, Camilio Mejia, who is in prison because he no longer has the desire to kill people. Camilio did much soul-searching and he made his decision to stop killing people.

The second person is Sergeant Kevin Benderman who went trial on May 9, 2005. I do not know the result of his trial. He served with valor during his first tour of duty but he refused a second tour of duty because he no longer wants to kill people. Kevin also did some soul-searching and he chose not to kill anymore.

The third person is Marla Ruzicka who was killed in Iraq trying to help the Iraqi people. She was a twenty-eight year old beautiful woman who is lost to us. We will never know her true potential and all the good that she would have spread across our world.

Cindy Sheehan is the fourth person. Her son, Casey, was killed in Iraq. Cindy opposes the war in Iraq from the very beginning. She is a parent who would not rationalize about the death of her son. She will not say that Casey died for a just cause in a wrong and an immoral war. She has had the courage to speak out against the war and she is a member of Gold Star Families for Peace.

The fifth person is George Vine. George is a remarkable man. He is a Jew who was in the Nazi concentration camp. He lost family members and friends in the concentration camp. He was asked a question if he hated the Nazis and George said that he did not hate the Nazis. He said that life is too short to hate people. Bush and his evil cabal could learn some lessons from George Vine.

These are five remarkable people who have shown great love for humanity. May God bless all the peacemakers of our world!

    Dear Thom’s Listeners,

I knew it, I knew it! Thom Hartmann continues to amaze me. One of Americans has four terrorist files – domestic, foreign, humanitarian, and animal trainer. Thom admitted on his radio show, July 29, 2010, that Higgins will attack larger animals. We knew that he attacks human beings. Information on Thom’s terrorist activities keeps piling up.

The FBI can without any subpoena check our internet. They can build any case against average Americans. We must now feel the noose tightening around our necks in our lost freedoms. The America and the American dreams are now shattered forever. We can no longer trust our elected officials and our federal government.

    Sincerely, Gerald

re :30: right. I remember Blair's "Im not Bush's lapdog" speech. He then sat down on the stage next to the podium and licked his genitals for several minutes.

What does Russia, Israel & the US have in common?

More than 30 countries have ratified the Convention on Cluster Munitions — the threshold for it entering into force — and over 100 have signed it since 2008. Holdouts include Russia, Israel and the United States. All three of those countries have used cluster bombs in the past decade: Russia during its conflict with Georgia in 2008 (Georgia also used cluster munitions against Russia); Israel during its conflict with Hezbollah in 2006 (Hezbollah also used cluster munitions against Israel); and the U.S. during the initial phases of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars. (Neither the Taliban nor Saddam used cluster bombs against U.S. troops.)

Obama seeks to expand arms exports by trimming approval process

The United States is currently the world biggest weapons supplier — holding 30 per cent of the market — but the Obama administration has begun modifying export control regulations in hopes of enlarging the U.S. market share, according to U.S. officials.

President Barack Obama already has taken the first steps by tucking new language into the Iran sanctions bill signed in early July. His aides are now compiling the "munitions list," which regulates the sale of military items.
