Thom, even IF people wake up and demand that Sherman and all those other items on your checklist be enforced . . . what can we do?

It's manifestly obvious that the Rethuglicans control the voting process so even if we "get active" that action can be nullified by the companies who run the elections. After watching the Dems roll over yet again after the blatant election fixing done in Alvin Greene mess, I'm certain the crooks will be further emboldened and make sure the people they want to win will win in November and beyond.

@Harry: Blair would be more appropriately ensconced in the Dog House.

re: #20:Years ago, Bush bought a huge rancho in Paraguay, with whom we have no extradition treaty. The ranch is huge, i.e. 50,000 acres? Tony Blair can stay in the servant house.

I remember that Paul Wolfowitz told Congress that the war would pay for itself. He should be dumped into a dungeon somewhere for attempting plunder. Plunder is a known international crime.

After Thom's conversation with Victoria, I find myself wondering why Bush and Blair aren't on trial at the International Criminal Court in the Hague being forced to explain their actions.

Have accountability and justice been taken completely off the table for the rich and powerful?

I read in the Nation (or Mother Jones ) that the cops in Arizona are going into Bars and arresting Brown people for being drunk and then deporting them! This dragnet has struck Native Americans and US born citizens who were on 12 step visits and not drinking, and in the reported piece one Hispanic-American had a license and his birth certificate and was arrested anyway and was facing deportment. He was given his phone call and he called his wife and asked her to bring his AMERICAN PASSPORT down to get him out of jail and to be sure she had hers when she showed up. She showed up and was told he wasn't there, and they challenged her immigration status. Her Grandfather served in the Army in FREAKING KOREA! She started raising hell and talking lawsuit when they accepted his passport and said they would "investigate" Three days later he was released. He had blown a .03 (.08 is legal DRIVING IMPAIRMENT!) and I guess they couldn't prove he was actually "drunk". I'm sorry, but I'm a Viet Nam Vet and I think it's clear that the conservative conspiracy has ruined the promise that Americas ideals have meant to the world and right now this country sucks!

@Thom: An enlightening argument that helps the bemuddled see the economic distress that causes people from poor economies to the US is, "who wants to leave their family, friends, and the land of their anscestors to go to a strange land and risk dying in the process?"

Economic refugees are the same to me as political refugees.

How about stopping my uncle because his heavy Polish accent would raise suspicion in AZ?

There is also a pipeline that runs from Superior, Wisconsin, to Pontiac, Illinois. There is a line that runs parallel to the large supply line that carries light crude north to thin out the heavier oil from Canada. These lines run under some of the best farm land in the world, and I'm worried about the disaster in store for us when the lines leak from abrasive junk or other stresses.

In Michael Moore's Sicko, a group of 9/11 responders went to Cuba to get health care. They couldn't get into Guantanamo where prisoners had health care. I think they ended up in Havana, where the Commie doctors helped.

JUDGES' DECISION RUINS MY CAREER!! Yeah, that's right, my future plans are on hold. Judge Susan Bolton's overruling of the "Papers Please Law" has ruined my career.

I was busily working on a new line of shoes to be approved by Governor Brewer, the Arizona Legislature and California Congressman, Brian Bilbray; that when worn, would assure the safe passage of the wearer throughout Arizona. The shoes were to be marketed under the brand name, "ASS", (Arizona Safety Shoes). The idea being that when stopped by the Sheriff Joe Arpaio, merely show him your ASS, (Arizona Safety Shoes). And you're free to go.

Leave it t Republicans to love putting their feet in their ASS (Arizona Safety Shoes).

Now Congressman Bilbray, Governor Brewer , and conservative supporters of this law throughout the U.S., may never realize their dream to compare and feel the quality of each others ASS, (Arizona Safety Shoes). If Sarah Palin can strut her ASS (Arizona Safety Shoes) for $50,000 a session; then these shoes must be good!

And ASS would be easy to care for. Each pair comes with a special white cloth to wipe clean your Arizona Safety Shoes. True conservatives even prefer to spit shine their ASS.

Now Judge Bolton. See what you've done?

I would like to know how we're going to be able to counteract the avalanche of monopoly money that's going to flood the airwaves with negative ads. Last night there was a whole minute in the middle of the Rachel Maddow Show trying to convince people that if the tax cuts are allowed to lapse, everybody's taxes will be going up. There's also this right-wing think tank called "The Tax Foundation" that's touting a tax calculator on its website (www.mytaxburden.org) that shows your taxes increasing no matter what your income. I just don't know how we will be able to get the message of Republican obstructionism in the Senate out to average folks who just don't pay attention to what happens in Congress.

A friend was in the US Army Rangers. He trained dogs used to detect explosives and drugs. He told me that the handler could get a dog to "alert" on amost anything and therefore provide "reasonable" suspicion for a fishing expedition.

I don't recall that a defendent may somehow cross examine an animal. "The dog barked" is a pretty flimsy excuse for "probable" cause.

I think the Third Amendment is the only one in the Bill of Rights that has not been shredded by people who have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States of America.
