    Maxrot,

It's interesting that we seem to be seeing the docs who are mostly interested in their profession for the money...

My son wants to go to medical school. He's been on his own and working for many years. He says, once his needs are met with a moderate income, he doesn't care if he makes much money. He just wants to help people.

    Maxrot,

I've been mulling over our blog conversation for the last 24 hours. Maybe mankind will never, as a species, overcome our problems because of the variation that may always be a constant within us. Maybe we will never achieve the Gene Roddenberry Startrek "ideal" of a species that finally overcomes its baser instincts. Maybe our flaws will always be with us.

I guess this is the big question. But I would like to think that Thom is right --- that we get better and grow as a species. However, that does not explain the lack of weapons and war in man's earliest "mother cities."

Creation and entropy --- life as we know it.

re: Hour Two guest. A dermatologist in AZ closing over Obamacare. OMG what will AZ do!?!? One less dermatologist in a sun soaked state... I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I'm quite sure that there are plenty of other dermatologists in the area, and on top of that, I'll bet this one dermatologist will retire comfortably after removing growths from the majority of the sun baked population.

Im disappointed that Thom doesnt go into the fraud that the Federal Reserve and the IRS really is. Especially with breakfast with Senator Burney coming in every Friday.

Thom, when you write your quarterly tax payment, notice you are to write the check to "United States Treasury" not "The Treasury of the United States of America"...

Unites States Treasury is not part of the federal government, Just a United States Steel is not part of the federal government (neither is Federal Express)

United States Treasury is a corporation based in Puerto Rico,

The IRS appears to be a collection agency working for foreign banks and operating out of Puerto Rico under color of the Federal Alcohol Administration (“FAA”). But the FAA was promptly declared unconstitutional inside the 50 States by the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of U.S. v. Constantine, 296 U.S. 287 (1935), because Prohibition had already been repealed.

Thom, check these out, and lets get on with auditing the Fed, canceling their debt, canceling the IRS. And conduct full investivgation, and jail the guilty.

The "Income Taxes" we all pay goes to pay the interest on the money that the Fed prints. It does not go to governement programs. Get educated.

My tea-party sign would be two sided.

Side A: "Leave your church." - Glenn Beck

Side B: "I could give a flying crap about the political process." - Glenn Beck

Given their radical christian fundamentalism, love of divisive politics and adoration of Beck, this should make most teabaggers' heads explode.

How can I get a transcript of today's show; the real story of the Boston tea party?

I have listened to the April 14th piece over and over and would love a transcript. I would like to piece meal it and put it on facebook a little bit each day. I have many teabagger neighbors who really just don't know!

    truly

If you want to live in a bettr world, here are biblical verses that must practiced.

Read Matthew 25:31-46! When you do it to the least of my brethren, you do it for me.

    Read Matthew 5:1-12! The beatitudes!

Read Luke 10:25-37! Who is my neighbor?

Read Luke 12:13-21! These verses warn us against greed.

If I went to a teabag meeting, the sign I would bring would have the words, GIVE ME SOCIALISM OR GIVE ME DEATH!!!

In the late 1700s patriotic Americans wanted liberty. In the early twenty-first century we are not a democracy and so we must push for socialism. Give me socialism or give me death!!!

My sign would say, "Obama doesn't upset you, you upset yourself"

People just don't get it. It's not what other people say and do that makes us mad. What they say or do is just an EVENT. It's what we choose to think about it that does. Like what we focus on, compare things to, how we look at it, and what meaning we attach to it. And that's assuming we're dealing with real instead of just our imagination. Perception is NOT reality, especially when it's being provided to you by people like Limbaught, Hannity, Beck and Savage.

Furthermore, it's also their choice what they want to imagine. Anxiety is a figment of imagination. It's about things that haven't happened yet, and may never happen. So much of what they are getting upset about is about what they IMAGINE is going to happen instead of what actually has. The tea party is suffering from a mass anxiety disorder.

Last, how they end up feeling is a function of what they expect in the first place. They have a right to want whatever they want, including for everything to be the way THEY want it to be. The mistake they make is to go from wanting it to DEMANDING it, which is exactly what they're doing. Again, they're being encouraged to be DEMANDING by conservative talkers on the radio, and TV. Dr. Albert Ellis used to call anger a TEMPER TANTRUM because people were being demanding like a 2, 3, or 4 year old. And the most demanding of all is El Rushbo.

They should be called the PEE Party because they're always pissing themselves off about every little thing.

Quark one of the main reasons our parents generation is considered the greatest, was their parents, they did a lot to shape them. (Which leaves me to question if our parents generation was really the greatest? No slam on our parents generation though.)

  • Daily Topics - Thursday - April 15th 2010   15 years 5 weeks ago

@quark, I think that our society is producing more sociopaths (by percentage) all the time. Its becoming easier and easier for us to detach and isolate ourselves, from there its just a downward spiral into lack of empathy. Watching TV, sitting in front of a computer, drinking or doing drugs are some of the more common vices that serve as a catalyst to this. There are a lot of ways people slip into this stupor these days, in a lot of ways they first stop caring about themselves, making the step to stop caring about others is almost inevitable.

  • Daily Topics - Thursday - April 15th 2010   15 years 5 weeks ago

    Maxrot,

There's a reason our parents were called "the greatest generation."

Life is a sliding scale, I guess. Once needs are met, people can choose to be more or less compassionate (tho I don't know that sociopaths really have a choice. That condition needs to be addressed by a specialist.)
