Darryl Issa is a criminal with little or no conscience. Should we as a just society treat sociopaths with fairness and equal rules? It is such a loaded question. We progressives like to think of ourselves as upholding high values and fairness for all and it obviously pains us to sink to Issa's level with this kind of investigation. But it is a good thing that we are at least talking about this question. Most republicans do not sit around debating about the morality of their actions.

The ends justify the means for republicans that is how they have been winning this class war for the last 30 years. I think that most of us have tried to stick to the higher ground all along thinking that if we gave the conservatives what they wanted that they would back off. But they keep coming for more and more and I truly believe that they are plundering and pillaging America until there is nothing more to take. At this point so many of us have lost our spirits feeling downtrodden and beaten.

So in order to take our country back I believe we are going to have to stoop to the same tactics as the republicans. We can't let these thieves go on any longer.

I say play their game and beat them at it,this guy is a crook just like the rest of the republicans.

When you are dealing with lying thieving RepubliCONS you have to fight fire with fire. What do I expect to find if a complete business and ethics check on Isa is made?; the IRS, if it started back to year one, would find he "stole his money fair and square" just like most corporations and in many cases, even small business; Isa probably owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in his reporting of income taxes. Now that he's "got his" he will go after anyone who stands in his way of making more, regardless of ethics. Isa will line up solidly with Newt Gingrich, Cheney, et al. You'll also find Isa is tied up solidly with people like the John Birch Soliciety; the Koch brothers; the health industry; and the Defense industry, just to name a few. After all, why be a RepubliCON if you can't be with people just like Isa probably is.

I get the instinct to take the high road, but we dems/progressives need to stand up and win some of these issues or the high road will be under water. I hope they bring it to him, and our side needs to organize talent in the areas of investigative journalism and computer skills and level the playing field.

I don't believe anything will happen to Representative Issa. He is immune to damage because of his great wealth. He could be defeated if Democrats got together to give him a dose of his own medicine, however, Democrats are not that mean-spirited. We prefer to use our resources to promote good ideas rather than to tear down the insanely stupid people such as Representative Issa. He will drink his own medicine. I believe men like Issa sow the seeds of their own destruction. Though it is amazing how hypocritical a Republican can be and still retain his seat in Congress. You would think that Senator Ensign would have been hounded out of office by his own supporters. If any Democrat had admitted an affair with a staffer including a $96,000 hush money payoff, that Democrat would never have a chance. I guess Republicans expect their representatives and senators to be scum.

The Muslim religion does in fact embrace the concept of "Holy War" as laid out by Mohammed himself. That is not a bad thing. Islam values justice and the fight (and they mean the FIGHT) for it. Christians don't very much or not very explicitly. They seem to be willing to tolerate a large amount of injustice.

Statistical analysis has shown that the number of suicide bombings in Israel were always directly proportionate to the aggressiveness of Israel's settlement and hyper apartheid policies. When Israel's egregiousness steadily decreased leading up to the Oslo Accords suicide bombings in Israel and occupied territories steadily decreased finally reaching zero for the year of 1993 then steadily increased as it became clear the Oslo Accords were not helpful in any way to the improvement of life in the occuppied territories.

What the new McCarthyism forbids us from saying is that if we want to stop terrorism of Muslims we should consider stopping our own. As Noam Chomsky said, " September 11th was the first time since WW II that the U.S. was the victim rather than the perpetrator of such violence [against civillians] on such a large scale."

The Islam is a religion that values peace and Muslims are peaceful people... but don't fuck with 'em!

The economy turned around and the depression ended because when the war started the government took over the economy and it (the economy) came under centralized control. There was a tremendous amount of work in the defense plants and that of course leads to other work selling to and producing for those workers who had money to spend from their new defense plant jobs (demand side economics as was attempted in the WPA and so on).

Also, because the white men were gone fighting the war many opportunities were opened for women and people of color. Women took over many jobs that were traditionally men's jobs and African-Americans moved north to get jobs that were newly made available. All racial minorities found opportunity as a a result of the absence of white men. The first Hispanic baseball players entered the Major Leagues and Jacky Robinson and Ernie Banks two years after the war.
