Impeachment is proper and in order and is statistically supported but so far statistics fail to prevail in the face of economic power and control. Short of critical mass event (s) Wealth prevails in superseding democracy. For once Glenn Beck is correct IMO. The specter of economic collapse has yet to be fully realized and addressed in the public sector. Times change. There are unavoidable mathematical limits in supporting an economy based on debt. Neither side of the isle has a solution to the catastrophe that has occurred short of promoting, and buying and selling IOU's and passing it all off as economic recovery. Meanwhile Wall Street continues to self destruct kicking each other down the ladder for the sake of short term gains. Critical Mass has to be met and addressed before the economy can again gain meaningful traction and we aren't there yet. With the house in control of the conservatives in support of short term gain on Wall Street, perhaps that will suffice to more effectively implement critical mass against greed.
As I document in my blog entry this morning, a PEW report finds that excluding cellphones from polls skew results by an average of +5 points in favor of Republicans.
The TSA claims that all packages are screeened on domestic passenger flights. Where we have issues is with countries that fly into the US that do not screen packages.
It just amazes me that conservatives still sell offshoring & outsourcing as something that is good for America. What shocks me is there are actual middle class (and lower class) members that buy it.
This comment is from Gerald, a Christian, a liberal, a pacifist, a progressive, and a socialist. He is sharing this information with you from his hideaway bunker deep inside enemy territory, the United States of Mortal Sin.
His perceptual opinion believes that the United States of Mortal Sin is an evil, vile, and wicked nation and she is one of the triad of nations who is doing Satan’s work in the killing of God’s children.
Americans have degenerated into a lowlife, a slime ball, and a scumbag people and existence!!!
As a side note the date for the 2010 midterm elections is interesting. My faith celebrates November 1 as All Saints Day for the souls that have died and are with God. November 2 has been celebrated as Holy Souls Day for the souls that have died and they are in purgatory cleansing their souls. They are saved but their souls must be prepared for heaven. About forty years ago November 2 was known as Poor Souls Day. For this year and for the rest of this century the United States of Mortal Sin will return to Poor Souls Day. Americans will have their souls under pain and suffering from the GOP. 2010 will see the demise of the Democratic Party. The slaughter of the Democrats will be of epic proportions. We will be witnessing an old fashion alley mugging from the GOP upon the Democrats.
Please hear this great nine minute commencement speech at Spelman College in 2009!
Here are some words from David Sirota’s last article.
The current crisis is deeper than we imagine. In a past recession, we could all at least concede that the challenge was "the economy, stupid." Now, though, we can't even agree on that truism. Our problem is the stupidity, stupid -- and solving that will take far more than an election.

Mr Hartmann is about the only left-wing commentator I listen to. Mainly because he doesn't rant and rave but rather he pleasantly articulates his position, however foolish I think it is. On his show the other day, Thom stated that he felt that the govt. should subsidize those worker's income who did not earn enough to live a decent life. The so-called livable wage. It is my argument that such an intervention would kill incentive and thereby destroy our economy. Why would anybody strive to improve if the govt. was there to even the score.
Plenty of excellent reasons to vote Nov 2; that said - it seems pretty clear that President Obama can already feel confident that he won't "go down in history as a do nothing President". Some examples borrowed from Media Matters (hardly a complete list): 01) signing the stimulus into law 02) eliminating the wasteful F-22 fighter jet program 03) confirmation of Sotomayor, the first Hispanic (and only the 3rd female) Justice 04) signing into law the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (actually the first bill Obama signed into law) 05) expansion of SCHIP 06) expansion of our designated public wilderness lands (by ~ 2 million acres) 07) credit card reform 08) revamping executive rules to allow greater transparency re lobbying 09) signed into law the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which gave the FDA, for the first time, the power to regulate the maufacturing, marketing and sale of tobacco 10) expanded the scope of AmeriCorps 11) eased (by Executive Order) the restrictions on the use of Federal money for stem cell research
My fingers are getting tired from all this typing - I'm sure some of the other smart folks around here can easily add to this list. Do nothing? I think not. Done enough? Not yet - but then, he's still just getting started, and can't do it all without our help...
Man, you should've seen Thom at last night's great debate. You'd think Michael Medved wanted to cry.
As for those who saw the first debate live or on Youtube, Thom came out a little nervous, and I could not hand him outright victory. However, this time he came out firing, confident and controlled the entire debate.
He was even funny. God bless Thom, but we know comedy is not his strong suit. At one point, he proclaimed: "You guys have the balls to talk about deficits?"
Another stellar part of the evening was when Mr. Medved tried to point to Germany as some Western European, conservative success. As we all know, Thom is quite astute in German economics and he thoroughly dissected the entire argument.
So yeah, I'm sure curious minds wanted to know how the evening went. Just want to let everyone know that he did us proud last night.
Thom Incorrect about Weimar Inflation, a couple of points. First, the reparations were denominated in Gold Marks, that is a set amount of physical gold, as well as other commodities- lumber, for one. Inflating the mark after the agreement did not change the required, physical quantities of materials set out in the treaty. Second, the Weimar had a Privately Owned Central Bank (Like the US FED) controlling the currency, which was inflating it in defense of shorting in the markets. The "Weimar Inflation" is one of the mainstays of Private Banking Myth that Government cannot be trusted to control the currency, thus a private institution is required.
The amazing thing to me is that while everyone "knows" about the Weimar Inflation, who thinks about "How did Germany go from being bankrupt to becoming an economic powerhouse capable of challenging the world in less than a decade?" Hitler took over the Reichsbank, and financed the rebuilding of Germany with Labor Treasury Certificates issued by the government, the same way Lincoln won the Civil war with Greenbacks. No debt, no interest, and it circulates indefinitely, not like unsustainable debt based money which leaves the economy when the debt is paid or defaults. If Government can issue the Treasury Certificates for which Federal Reserve Notes are traded, why not just issue the notes directly?
If you understand Fractional Reserve Banking, then you understand that much of the money in the system is based largely on the reserves of the Federal Debt deposited in Private Banks. Pay down that debt and you reduce the banks reserves and the amount of credit they can issue.
To educate yourself see Stephen Zarlenga's book "The Lost Science of Money"; Ellen Brown's book "Web of Debt", and online videos "Money as Debt" and "The Money Masters". Real change will be difficult without monetary reform restoring the issuing of currency to the People, in their representative the Government.

The real terror being perpetuated upon the world by religion fundamentalist is compliance with religious injunctions to have as many children as possible. No, there are no nightly TV news spots featuring helicoptor views of large, smoking craters with burning buildings, cars and bodies strewn about, but the eventual devestation will be more horrific.
If all campaigns were publicly funded “only” that would work to combat corporate personhood and this court's radical ruling right?
Maybe Jon Stewart should have named his ralley, "The Ralley To Ignore Insanity".

Defunding the Department of Education is not to give states control; it's also a way to starve states into defunding education as a whole.
It is good for their America, just not for Americans.
It just amazes me that conservatives still sell offshoring & outsourcing as something that is good for America. What shocks me is there are actual middle class (and lower class) members that buy it.
Simply frustrating.

I don't understand why those who worry about human's effect on the Earth don't off themselves and contribute to their own efforts.
The audio cut off just as it got into the union part of the debate.... is there any other link to this to hear the entire debate?
