I think it would be a good thing, however I don't think we will see NAFTA repealed until we see some form of campaign finance reform, but perhaps I'm being a skeptic.
First PBS edits out T.R. Reid’s most important fact from his documentary causing him to remove his name from the project. That fact: America is the ONLY industrialized country where selling primary health insurance for profit is legal. (source: Thom Hartmann Radio Show)
Now PBS has distorted FRONTLINE’s latest piece, Obama’s Deal. Why was a decision made to edit an interview with a single-payer advocate and footage of single-payer protesters to make them appear to be activists for a public option instead? (Source: FAIR Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting)
What has this country come to when we can’t even trust PBS not to distort the facts?
"Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." ~ Benito Mussolini
Oh… that.
Saying that I am disappointed is a severe understatement.
As a listener and a Thom poster to the Thom Hartmann Show I am well aware of Rush Limbaugh and how he has contaminated the minds of the Rush faithful. He has contaminated their thought processes and words with garbage. Even when you look at the Rush faithful, you can see and hear garbage. Rush has been on the radio for twenty-two years. It takes time to contaminate the mind.
Thom, I need to caution you. You are informative and you have also a faithful following. These are positive areas and it has helped you to become the most progressive show in America. The problem is that you need to become more intuitive to what is happening in the United States of Hell. Your optimism for America’s future seems to disagree with what Americans are seeing, hearing, and reading.
In time your optimism will create for your faithful a serious mental disorder. Your faithful will acquire a bipolar disorder. The old name has been called a manic-depressive disorder. From your show your listeners will receive highs about our future but in the real world your highs will be offset by lows and the creation of a bipolar disorder in your faithful fans.
Since serious bipolar disorders will require institutionalized care and with no funds available for such care, your faithful listeners will prowl the streets of America like zombies.
We enjoy watching and listening to Rachel Maddow She tells it like it really is and she brings us back to sanity. I believe that less optimism and more reality will help the faithful maintain some degree of sanity in our real United States of Hell.
Sincerely, gerald aka a Jesus liberal, pacifist, and progressive
The goose-stepping GOP trolls and many Democrats have said that we could pay our bills by bartering with people and companies. They even have said that if we need help we could ask our neighbors for help.
I have contacted many people and companies to pay my bills through bartering. Here is a list of people and companies that I have contacted – the barber, my doctors, the dentist, utility companies, neighbors, and parishioners. Not one of these Americans and American companies would accept any bartering, such as chickens in place of money.
A goose-stepping GOP troll and many Democratic trolls have offered words but no solutions. A troll stands for a totally, retarded, obnoxious, low, life.
As desperate as I have become, I have found some comfort, help, and relief.
Relief
I have tried to inform you through serious information and humorous information. Americans face many problems from mass murders, home foreclosures, loss of retirement benefits, etc. Americans need a better life and relief may help our citizens. Our youngest son has travelled to Asia and Europe. In Asia he introduced me to a Korean recipe for Kim Chee. At first I ate from an Asian Mart. Kim Chee can be found in most Asian grocery stores.
Kim Chee can offer relief for many of our problems. I must alert you to a fact. When you open the jar of Kim Chee, the smell can bold you over. You will be introduced to a noxious stench. If you can forget about the smell, the taste of Kim Chee is really great. I can make Kim Chee an entire meal just like I can make my wife’s famous marinated four bean salad a main meal.
Kim Chee offers relief by having you experience the greatest BMs in your life. Great BMs can ease your life’s problems and you can start your life renewed to take on all of your problems.
Earth Day was celebrated 40 years now. Last April 22, many business offer consumers free stuffs and some good deals. The idea is Earth Day freebies 2010, where many companies are offering discounts or free products in conjuncture with Earth Day to try and draw business to their stores. Of course I am certain they are also trying to promote a healthier environment. Either way, with all the criticism out there about this, I can't help but wonder why individuals care and get so worked up? The outcome of a business taking advantage of a holiday to try and get sales is: a lot more revenue in our economy helping to stimulate it; more revenue equals a lot more job; and they are nevertheless getting individuals to contribute to the environment by recycling or no matter what gimmick they have going on. So how is there a down side at all?
Happy Earth's Day!!!. Let us participate in the event or activities that some organization prepare for us. This is the great day for us to realize that we should give importance to our Mother Earth.
Well, they got to make effort to pass bills that will promote Climate Change actions because obviously we gonna be needing them even those who are first time home buyers.
This is just a reminder that even though we have "won" on healthcare, these guys are still not our friends. They will pull every slimy trick to delay implementation and every loophole to jack up rates.
I guess I'd pretty much recommend most of The Cramps songs too, but that's more to the lustier side of Rock-a-billy. I've taken a clip from this song as a ringtone for my wife when she calls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVRWSm2-P3w
Songs of note that Kramer had on his albums, Rats Of Illusion, a song about the mainstream (right-wing) media, and Revolution in Apt 29, a song about pseudo revolutionary left wing groups that talk more than anything else.
Wow, Wayne Krammer sure looks different. He did some solo albums in the '90's and was playing at a local bar weekly in Long Beach, CA promoting the albums. Quite the unique experience seeing a rock legend play in front of a group of about 100 people give or take.
Speaking of MC5 links, here's one for you. (As far as the opening announcer goes, discussing the wonders of FM stereo radio, we've come a long way, Baby!) :-)
Here's one of my favorite websites for music listening: Pandora.com
Try it out, you put in bands or songs you like and it will play back something similar, the more you build up what you like, the more the songs it returns to you are more to the style you like. Its hard to explain, its a must for any music lover though. There's a free version of the site (that plays a commercial at every 4th or 5th song) or a subscription service (don't know what that's like, never bothered).
Fair warning though, you find yourself on this site a lot for the first month or so after you try it (very addictive).
MC5 had a really great album there. American Ruse is another song on that album worthwhile to listen to, but its far from being romantic, far more appropriate for this blog though ;-)
I think my favorite is the traditional Mexican song "Cu Cu Ca Ru La Paloma" I have a version by the nuevo cancion band Zazil in support of the Zapatista resistance.

PBS once again shamefully succumbs to pressure from corporate overlords on the health insurance issue.

@Quark here's the CD number: PCD 1123. I misspelled the name of the band, its Zazhil "Sones para un nuevo Sol" Tenochdisc Records.

I love to listen to Los Lobos. Here are lots of wonderful songs:

Fridays are always fun.
Hear's a song recommendation (can find it on you tube) if you're looking for something romantical. MC5 Let Me Try.
Nels,
This was really fun!
harry ashburn,
'Wish I could hear the version you have. I just found a number of other versions on YouTube...
John Doe and Quark, way to take Anything Goes Friday ;-) I would never have guessed the blog would have ended up with music recommendations today.

Thanks so much for the Apache Tears link. That is really powerful. This is the first time I've heard it.
