You, the people, must put aside all of your racial hatred from one culture to another. Well i think the people of the united states is over the corporations have won,or should i say the rich have won,the police are getting paid by the rich now,i beleive in ross perroll when he said nafta would be the end of america.we are officially a third world country.Ronald Regan won and there will be a repubican for president,there will go the rest of our rights. The 1% knew this was coming. They used the miltary buget to over arm the police forces in the U.S. They even have interment sites scoped out by Haliburton and paid for by the Shrub. The 1% have hardend panic mansions. (google Walton family security) We can only hope that Gandi was right. 1st they ignore you, then they laugh at you. then they fight you, and then you win!!

Since our first try, which got us out of Viet Nam, the Movement is much more strategically defined. Where we started in the sixties with "Anti-Establishment," now we've actually got a catalog of offenses, Street Addresses of the Establishment, Names to Name, and Faces to look up.
We've also gained desktop publishing and social networking which can mobilize a lot of people if they think there's a party happening.
This go 'round, we'll end up with a more encompassing slogan than "America is changing its name to Nixxon." We can see the problem with them is way bigger and deeper rooted than originally suspected.
Great interview with John Niles who was in Boston last night when the protesters overran the area they had permits to be in. One tip. Never, never use the "link arms" maneuver and think it will keep police at bay. We were trained that was the best way to break up a protest because the rioters could not run away all linked together. When the law says "disperse". Take them at there word and disperse, or do not complain if you get your head thumped. It is nice to know the Boston police is doing their job. Good on them.
I noticed that the news media is using the "terrorist" or "terrorism" words when referring to the alleged attempted assassination of the Saudi Ambassador. I think they need another "wag the dog" or "false flag" to detract from the patriotic actions of the "99 percenters"? They want you to be afraid...very afraid...of their conjured up boogeymen "terrorists" while distracting you from the real criminals running, and ruining, this country. Again, I'll believe Ahmadinejad, or any spokesman, for him....over the propagandists in our government or news media. The hypocrites in our government and news media are doing to our patriotic demonstrators (short of killing them...at least I don't think the cops killed anyone yet) what they had complained about the governments of Libya, Egypt, and Syria. Give them time...they'll come around to even more violence...maybe they'll even ram more planes into tall buildings and mail out some more anthrax, like they did before, and blame it on the Iranians this time.
Here's hoping it simply makes more people join the movement. Let's face it, people in the street is the only chance for Obama and the Democrats to win in 2012. The news media are not going to be fair and balanced because they are mostly right wing controlled. The Republicans are not being held accountable for anything. They chose to let business self regulate and be got disaster. They chose to let oil and gas self regulate and we got disaster. They chose to let banks and Wall Street to self regulate and we got disaster. They helped export 5 million jobs and holler where are the jobs. Normally I would say let people get what they ask for but that would be disaster. Face it. If you are not white and evangelical, you are not American in 60% of America. Obama is blamed for not reducing the unemployment rate but no one talks about 1 million people fired by Republican governors in last 9 months. The deck is stacked. It is now up to the people to take the streets to save their chance to prevent total takeover of our government by corporations. Pray enough of us get the message.
Is it possible that the aggression against the protestors is hoping to incite some form of violence that would enable them to completely apply police force to stop all activities? We definitely heard Scott Walker make casual suggestion to this sort of strategy. There is little hope of this strategy working and will most likely only push the movement to be stronger and more united.
Any reform is susceptible to distortion by lobbying from the 1%... but we could make the formulation for the "job creators" surtax more robust by using a calculation based on U6 rather than "regular" unemployment. That would include discouraged workers, part-time and underemployed. More complicated calculation, but probably more robust. Or even base it on the gap between the available workforce and the actual number of employed.
Why do the events stop as of two weeks ago? How are these events listed "upcoming"? Why can't I find any actual "upcoming" events, like tomorrow night's one in Denver?
I've been looking for a way to design the tax system with balancing forces just like you described, Blue Mark. Unfortunately, the milionaires would lobby to change the definitions used in determining the unemployment numbers. Reducing the length of unemployment benefits would also be one of their goals, since that removes unemployed people from the count sooner.
I sort of agree with Thom's statement that either the Constitution needs to be amended or the make up of the Supreme Court has to shift to the left to get money out of politics. However I don't think its an either/or situation, I think both needs to be done. We need the Supreme Court to shift left so we can get a quick reversal of the citizens united ruling, then we need to get enough progressives in as representatives to make that change happen in the constitution with an amendment. Separation of Corp and State should be a self evident need that's just as apparent as separation of Church and State. Also in both the cases of the Corporations and Churches, they exist and thrive in the United States because of the protection of the Government, they need to pay they're fair share of taxes period.

Since the plutocrats and their congressional lackeys have rebranded the rich as "job-creators", and label any attempt to make them pay their fair share as "Job-Killing", how about we design a millionaire tax that follows the principles of their argument?
Even though the last decade has seen very near the lowest effective tax rates on the very wealthy, this has not resulted in job growth, but let's go ahead and use their logic that job growth is primarily dependent on the incomes of the very rich.
Instead of lowering their taxes and hoping that will increase employment - a strategy that has failed over the last decade, let's do a millionaire surcharge tax that is tied to the unemployment rate - for instance set the surcharge rate at the unemployment rate minus 5%, and apply it to all income, including capital gains, royalties, etc. Thus Today's surcharge would be 9.1% minus 5% = 4.1% on all income over 1 million dollars.
This employment pegged surcharge would give the job creators an incentive to create enough jobs to reduce their surcharge to zero.
The tax advantage of this is that it should even out revenues in the face of the business cycle - in particular raising the extra revenue needed when unemployment spikes and increases the cost of entitlements like food stamps and unemployment insurance, and then when unemployment falls, the revenues lost from the millionaire surcharge is compensated by lessened need for entitlements plus added taxes collected from the newly employed.
Let's give the "job creators" an economic incentive to create jobs.

I'm surprised that the Scott Walker recall petition is starting on Nov. 15th, instead of Nov. 5th--Guy Fawkes Day--although I guess that would interfere a bit with this years regular election, which is probably on Nov. 8th. (Here in Colorado we have a weird law, that says that in odd years election day is simply on the first Tuesday, so it can be on the 1st instead of the 8th. That's the only difference.)
BTW - should all of us simply put up a lawn sign that says '99%' ?

Meanwhile -- the Job Bill -- the 'news' says it requires 60 VOTES!!!!! Excuse me, but Republicans would be screaming bloody murder that the majority were being denied their rights! WHY is not every single filibuster being SCREAMED at by Democrats on a regular basis!???? Why is the PRESIDENT silent about the SUPER MAJORITY required to over ride a filibuster on DISCUSSION, Passage or approving candidates for positions????
