Lars and the Real Girl goes to Washington...well, maybe only Ohio. Ryan Gosling, of Lars and the Real Girl fame, quite popular these days, since he stopped making love to Real Dolls and gets it on with a very real one, Evan Rachel Wood in The Ides of March. I wondered why the whole theater was packed with young people...looked like they are still in high school...at 11:30am on a Friday. Is school out? Or was this a class trip sent by a Republican teacher? Anyway, from what I could understand the movie was about wasn't very flattering to politicians, in general, but the Democratic party, in particular. The crowd broke out in applause after the show but I couldn't tell if they were all young Republicans or just really liked Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, and/or Evan Rachel Woods. Are the Koch Bros., and their ilk, financing anti-Democrat propaganda movies in preparation for the 2012 election? I wonder! Anyway, maybe a new movie will be made showing Republican Candidates thumping their feet under airport toilet stalls.

Praise be to the Occupy Wall Street movement....true patriots doing their part in true democracy.

Fact is that none of these rich people are going to automatically and beneficently hand over any of their ill-gotten gains without an honest and true representation of the majority of Americans by our government forces the rich to pay. Our government is corrupt and until it again enforces the rules and laws, that were meant to protect us from rapacious greed, we will not be able to turn things around for the better for most Americans.

FOR six months before the 2010 elections JOHN BOEHNER & ERIC CANTOR constantly asked """PRESIDENT OBAMA the AMERICAN people want to know: where are the jobs""

EVERYONE please make BOEHNER choke on his own words - send him this message:

SPEAKER BOEHNER: """THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT TO KNOW - WHERE ARE THE JOBS!"""

I'd like to see a mob of models dressed as French Maids descend on Wall Street, with feather dusters. When approached by Police they can say "Poo-poopie doop," and give them a Godiva chocolate.

Hey Angelo, how about using HOLLYWOOD MODELS, INC. aka The Walt Disney Company/Berkshire Hathaway?

Aside from direct actions such as boycotts of the big banks, maybe the most productive actions for these protestors and their supporters would be voter registration, themselves for sure, but friends or others as well.

The banking system isn't going to change before the election and it never will if the Republicans can win or steal another election.

If anyone wants reform then registering the disenfranchised would be the most productive action for those able to protest or their supporters all across the country.

    Luck,

The Occupiers in New York have swept Liberty Park clean (clearing away Bloomberg's pretext for assault), and their large numbers assembled early this morning forced the police to back off on their scheduled crackdown.

Onward now, to sweep government clean — to cleanse it of all the (R) & (D) corporate person representatives.

Republicans deserve no respect. Democrats deserve every disrespect. Remove them all!

That is incorrect. Buffett draws a minimum salary just to avoid paying taxes. Nothing prevents him from paying 36% on the $62 million he made last year. This guy is old and senile. He is trying to clear his conscience before he "assumes room temperature". Hopefully he will cough up the one billion he already owes the U.S. government on back taxes, and then write a check for another 25 million on last years earnings. Put your money where your mouth is Warren.

  • It’s time to put down the Free Trade Kool-Aid...   13 years 44 weeks ago

Drew Peacock: At least Warren Buffet is willing to pay his fair share of taxes as long as other wealthy people do the same. You won't find many other wealthy people saying the kinds of things Warren Buffet says nor willing to pay their fare share. Most are content to let the country suffer and turn the nations workers into lowly peons and surfs not worthy to shine the overlord's shoes.

  • It’s time to put down the Free Trade Kool-Aid...   13 years 44 weeks ago

Drew Peacock: Yes, that was bad and they deserve what they are going to get. But how much worse has been the raping, pillaging, torture, maiming, and murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent men, women, and children...families in the Middle East that didn't deserve to die any more than that one in Connecticut. Our government sponsored terrorism conducted by ruthless war criminals deserve far more punishment than those guys in Connecticut. Yet some feckless, jingoist, flag-waving useful idiots support this kind of behavior.

what now toons: I am not surprised at all. That's the way it works now. They'll say one thing to get us all at-least semi-supportive then they'll pull a fast one on us. It's bait and switch, smoke and mirrors. We cannot trust anything they say...it is just to constantly feed us a smidgen of hope and then they'll dash our brains out on the rocks. Politics is corrupt and getting more corrupt. There is only one thing that will make real change and the people are beginning to take action that does not believe in, nor rely on, the corrupt ballot box kind of lying government.

They did the same thing with the bail-outs...they just handed the money over to the banks with no teeth to make the banks make the loans to the people and businesses in the US. Instead the bank officials gave themselves big bonuses and shot that money to risk it in overseas ventures.

They did the same thing when the government made a deal with tax-evaders who had their money stashed away in overseas accounts...bring the money back to the US and the IRS would tax them at a ridiculously low rate...providing they created jobs in the US. They didn't provide jobs in the US but more overseas and they got their tax cuts anyway...laughing all the way to their offshore banks. We got suckered again.

Jrboehmfl: Just as POT (plain old telephone) copper lines can both carry voice and DSL (digital subscriber line--ie: the internet) at the same time because the carrier frequencies are different, the 60 cycle (or Hertz) frequency of your copper AC power line can carry other frequencies at the same time. They even make products that allow you to control lights or other devices...sensors...etc..that utilize this principle.

It is quite conceivable, and even probable, that even if you turn off and disconnect your DSL modem from your computer that what you do on your computer, can be monitored because the power line can be modulated with a frequency from your computer carrying information from your computer. I would imagine having an electric meter would help facilitate isolating the house wiring from the line in, making it easy for someone monitoring from the street...or even further...what you do on your computer or what you say inside your house and even your location inside your house...depending on the electronic devices they may plant in your house.

There are a couple of different kinds of computer keyboard loggers...software kind and hardware kind. Of the hardware kind, installed on your keyboard or keyboard cable(who really pays attention to the cabling?), one type has to be picked up after a time to read, another type can actually broadcast (to the street?) what you type. They can get passwords and other things...read everything you type. The other kind is software that is injected into your computer by a trojan.

"Regardless of which protection method is used, the following supplementary countermeasures should be added.

    1. All electrical power lines should be filtered to prevent RF emissions from the equipment being transmitted along the lines that act as antennas. This is necessary even with Tempest equipment or a product like the SHIELD."
    http://cryptome.org/tempest-leak.htm

This is in reference to natural RF emission from the equipment, which could supply 'useful (to the spy)' data but it is also conceivable that a modulated signal can be purposefully gotten from your computer via the AC power line, isolated at the electric power meter, with filters, which then broadcasts the signal to those monitoring you from the street. Either someone would have to plant a modulator in your computer or the computer could be built with it already there, or maybe even software planted in your computer could act as the modulator.

Governments have been concerned about spies being able to monitor them for many years and the idea is not new. Even the RF radiation from computers and monitors are able to be monitored. I guess it is not inconceivable, especially now, that our government could being spying on us in ways we could not even imagine.

Governments can be paranoid...but we can't be? Besides, it not really paranoia if you have good reason to be right. The technology is here, and the government has shown us much reason to be suspecting of them.

Think of how many sincere and dedicated people sacrificed time, money, and hope on trying to get Obama elected in the first place. Many of those people are now aghast at how they were "used" and "abused" by that slick-tongued devil that made promises and made statements that made them believe that he was really going to make a difference and would help turn around the way the country was headed. Some of those people have spoken out and made clear that they felt betrayed. And they were betrayed and so were those of us who voted for him. He does not deserve our vote next time. We would be doubly foolish for doing so. It really doesn't matter what Obama says now...he's campaigning..like the first time...he will say things that he doesn't mean. He is a traitor to his base and he won't quit being a traitor to his base if you re-elect him. But, of course, his real base is not the people who elected him...in reality, it is Wall Street. He was true to that base alright...we peons are the suckers who bought into his lies.

First I heard that the Jobs bill had this free trade atrocity in it, so I wasn't too bothered that the bill did not pass, until I saw tonight's Network news say that it passed, as they dished up some smiley faced propaganda about it! WHAT!!! This turkey passes and we still don't have a jobs bill?!!! ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!

I believe the system is so corrupt...including the Democratic Party that all leading Democrats will continue to pretend that they will finally side with the people for a change but once Obama is re-elected he will continue to act as the Republican he really is and many of those leading Democrats know it and are playing the same game. The game is to keep the 99% from open rebellion and continue to squeeze them out of every nickel...or even their lives and the lives of their loved ones. If we continue to play the same old game, that is rigged against us from the get-go (ie: the entrenched two-party system), we will continue to be fleeced and left to die off from the poverty that will ensue upon most of us.

There is only one thing that may change things....and that is much more of what is now happening in the US. And if we keep it up, growing in numbers and intensity, the criminal elite will either have to resort to the kind of murderous tactics that other countries have gone through...showing the world how hypocrtical, thieving, and lying our criminal leaders and ruling elite are, being worthy of violent overthrow (even our constitution and founding fathers have said as much and even our present leaders have said or indicated that violent overthrows of tyrannical governments is to be praised...as long as it is some other government)...or they will have to finally give in and stop being such heartless and greedy criminals. Simply voting for Obama, after all he has done to show us that he is far from the man we all voted for, will keep the "false hope" going and delaying the inevitable...which is what the ruling elite hope for.

To be clear: I do NOT advocate a violent overthrow of our government! I'm just saying that many people, fed up with being robbed, cheated, and left homeless, dying of sicknesses that the system has made it impossible to cure from the corruption in the healthScare industry may very well see how ridiculous it is to continue to believe that Obama, or any other two-face politician will help them and that if voting won't make any difference anymore then many may realize that they are left only one other option. The same option that so many in Egypt, Libya, and Syria and other places have resorted to to make change.

I have joked about having to eat cat food, or maybe even the cat, but I am not that bad off...not yet...but if the prices on food keep going up, as they have been, or if a medical problem, or other unforeseen problem strikes, things could change very quickly. I suspect that a lot of people are already at that breaking point. So, if the FBI, or any other group is still looking for more patsies to use to play in their keystone kops, homeland security, anti-terrorism farces, they should look elsewhere because I am not volunteering. I don't have a chain of failing businesses, nor am I of Middle Eastern descent, nor am I so destitute that I am desperate.
