Well, I remember being somewhat sad when David quit the stage, but yeah. And at the risk of being called a sexist pig myself, I also remember Jerry on David's Sharon,
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again. ...
@Zero g Yeah. Bromberg's cool. I suspect Ry Cooder's on it. I admire bromberg for quitting performing in the '80's and going to luthier school to make musical instruments.
by Ignacio Ramonet In any case, Garzon has shown himself to be a rebel judge, independent and incorruptible. It is because of this that he has accumulated so many adversaries and now finds himself persecuted by those involved in "Gurtel[1]" matter and the heirs of Francoism.
There are in fact three charges pending against him in the Supreme Court, one regarding fees he received for conferences he spoke at in New York sponsored by Banco Santander. Another regards wiretaps ordered for the investigation of the "Gurtel" network. The main accusation involves the investigation of the crimes of Francoism.
Two ultraconservative organisations have accused him of "prevarication[2]" for having initiated in October 2008 an investigation into the disappearance during the Spanish Civil War of more than 100,000 republicans (whose bodies lie in unmarked ditches, denied a dignified burial) and the destiny of 30,000 children taken from their mothers in prison [3] and given to families on the side of the victors during the dictatorship (1939-1975).
John McCain supports the reinstatement of Glass-Stegall and the Obama administration is against it! McCain is acknowledging that U.S. taxpayers rescued capitalism from total collapse. McCain realizes that separating investment from commercial banks is the only way to get taxpayers of the hook for unwise bets made by investment banks.
re Thom's question before the break, about will Rand Paul bring down the Republican party, will BP bring down the Obama Administration, will the Banksters win?
In politics, battles are won, then fought again, the political war never ends.
C'mon, Harry - the MMS is BP's bestest buddy! They party together - they snort coke together - BP officials have sex with MMS staffers. You have to be pretty desperate to have your procurer arrested, and somehow I don't think that BP is quite there - YET!
What do you call a "libertarian" who is against choice, has no problem with much of the police state, and is in favor of allowing corporate power over citizens? Libauthoritarian?
@Zero G. they'd probably note the lumpy rug prior to walking over it too, but if it was night time, and the lamp was the only source of light for the room, perhaps it couldn't be noticed until walking over it... Its a moot point though, basically what I was saying is one way or another its going to be found out.
Ah, the beauty of the corporate fawning media...the traffic segment on L.A.'s KTLK just noted that the Wilshire Blvd. exit of the 405 is closed because of "some kind of demonstration at the Wilshire Federal Building."
I think we are seeing signs of the financial crisis beginning to strike pretty hard at the previously prosperous portions of the Northeast. I work in Bergen County NJ, which is mostly composed of bedroom communities for NY city. This has traditionally been a fairly peaceful, affluent area, where many residents felt safe enough to leave their cars and homes unlocked overnight.
Over the past few weeks, I've been hearing reports of numerous residential break-ins, thefts of cash, jewelery, houeshold property and cars, in several of these communities. According to local police, towns that used to see about one "crime" a week are now experiencing several daily.
As more and more Americans become less and less financially secure, are they turning to crime as their means of support?
BP won't be able to continue to hide the oil spill, I don't care how many people they get arrested or how much equipment they confiscate. I personally think this is perfect, the longer BP can hold off the visuals from hitting the press, the more likely this story will stay in the media and get a surge of interest once the visuals start to come in.
BP is panicking and overreaching because they're being allowed to. That's great when you're trying to win the moment, but their lack of foresight is immense as is their effort to hide their error. Think of a little kid trying to sweep the broken lamp under the rug, they feel great about it until mom and dad walk across the rug.
I think BP (aka the Coast Guard)'s next plan is to run a national ad campaign targeted at recreational boaters to run their boats on floating oil in lieu of paying to fill up their gas tanks.
Never heard Jerry Lewis play guitar, I know that Groucho Marx played, though.
She went, (Jerry riff) and then she went (jerry riff)....
@zero g: jerry garcia or lewis?

Zero G. here's a link about that "some sort of protest" you mentioned earlier on Wilshire Blvd.

@Nels,
My folks would have noted the missing lamp long before walking over the rug.

Maybe the Mineral Management Service is scared the National Guard is going to arrest them at BP's request.
