@harry, oh c'mon, that's your worst nightmare... wait till you see what I have planned for your bedroom wall.
That's right FATHEADs of W in his pilot costume (cod piece in full view) and Condi in a negligee, nestled in W's arms, with a Presidential Daily Briefing in her hand (want to take a guess what the title of the brief is?).
The Tesla Roadster is pricy (and all so totally sexy). The new sedan class is moving towards a reasonable price on a well accessorized and good-looking vehicle. Tesla’s well-documented pricing strategy forecasted this . . . .
Fnord imposed major austerity on its workforce back in 2007, and also raised capital by pawning virtually all of its holdings right down to its trademark and other intellectual property.
@LeMoyne, currently two cities that neighbor me are competeing to get Tesla's new plant here in Los Angeles.
The only issue I have with the Tesla's are the price's I've seen for them. I can't get one. Someone needs to explain to them how Ford got to be so powerful.
re sween_66's questions @ #68: Until Tesla came along, we appeared to need others to show us the way, although GM does have the Volt in or near production. The Tesla and Tesla+Toyota production is in "a little corner" of that CA plant. Maybe Tesla can grow into those shoes and start to shoulder aside the fossil fools in the oil+auto cartel that have led US around by the nose for far too long.
Increasingly a difficult cozy relationship to understand. The fortunes of either industry generally come at the expense of the other. Auto stocks and oil stocks, I would imagine, would be more countercyclical, as mentioned above, than Canadian and USian currencies.
@n8chz, I disagree, the success of the electric car depends on making them affordable to the public. Which can be done now. They're using the battery as an excuse, its the equivalent of saying we needed 300 gal gas tanks on the first cars to make them useful.
Derregulation is good! If you think about it, the less money corporations have to pay in taxes and expensive safety and environmental protection oversights, the more money they can pay their workers. Stop trying to hurt the American worker!
I for one look forward to one day (legally) snorting cocaine off a hooker's behind.
It seems to me that perhaps the Japanese auto makers pursue the electric car because it behooves them not to be beholden to the oil companies. Where as the US automakers have long had a cozy relationship with the oil corporations.
The success of the electric vehicle (and many other energy alternatives) is contingent on the development of some kind of magic bullet in the area of battery technology.
I think the movie nailed it. However, our situation has changed dramatically since then and here is a second chance to get it right, especially since "we" own GM now.
Going back to Obama Appointee inability: Perhaps someone needs to explain to our Secretary of Education that one should be informed about the subject he is pontificating about . . . If only there was a word that encapsulates that concept . . . Like "education".
@harry, I'll see if I can get you a FATHEAD decal of Cheney in full hunting regalia, taking aim with a shotgun in one hand, tumbler of scotch in the other. To adorn you freshly painted wall.
Re: ... big goverment liberals want to take away your freedom.
As stated earlier, both parties are Hamiltonian (Big Government) parties. Unfortunately blind allegiance to a party prevents people from seeing the truth.

GM paid back their debt at the end of the last quarter. We, the People, got zerata in the electric car conversation.
How do you make them affordable, in the sense that 'entry level' electrics are not priced among the luxury cars?

Will happily tell you about all the governmental abilities that have been stripped, privatized and de-funded.

It GM's debt that we own.
