Interesting, Fox news tells the truth and gets lambasted here. Left leaning Brian Williams lies about his helicopter being forced down during the 2003 Iraq war, saying it was hit by an RPG. That isn't mentioned here. I guess it's cool to criticize Fox news, but politically incorrect to mention lies from the left. George Carlin was correct, censorship in America today is coming from the left.
I read Jeremy Scahill's description in his book Dirty Wars of the aftermath of a USA missile strike on the Yemeni village of al Majalah. My problem is that the media does NOT publish war, not that it does publish it. Remember when the flag-covered coffins arriving at McGuire AFB were being broadcast, and then were terminated? No longer did we SEE the consequences to our own troops of the wars. Perhaps rubbing our noses in war would so sicken us that we would find alternatives to settle disputes.
"As soon as bin Fareed arrived in al Majalah, he was horrified. 'When we went there, we could not believe our eyes. I mean, if somebody had a weak heart, I think he would collapse. You see goats and sheep all over, you see the heads of those who were killed here and there. You see their bodies, you see children. I mean some of them, they were not hit immediately, but by the fire, they were burned,' he told me. Body parts were strewn around the village. 'You could not tell if this meat belongs to animals or to human beings,' he remembered. They tried to gather what body parts they could to bury the dead. 'Some of the meat we could not reach, even. It was eaten by the birds.' As bin Fareed surveyed the carnage, most of the victims he saw were women and children. 'They were all children, old women, all kinds of sheep and goats and cows. Unbelievable.'"
So instead of censoring the images of the barbarism of war, I say play it over-and-over -- atrocities of all parties to the barbarity -- until we learn.
The truth is Roger Ailes is a salesman and he knows his audience of choice. Both their likes and dislikes so he has Fox News show what his audiance wants to see. These are people that get pleasure out of watching these kind of things happen. They enjoy the adrenaline rush even if it scares them. I guarantee you though what most of the Fox news viewers opinion, was look these goofy muslims are killing each other. These people hate anything and anyone that is in the slightest way different form them. That is why Fox News is still on the air.
Actually, the Military Industrial Complex owes Fox News a big thank you. After all, Fox is just their lap dogs doing tricks for the master. Also, ISIS just did the Military Industrial Complex a big favor. Now they don't have to stage their own false flag for an excuse to rifle our treasury for more war. Fox viewers will willingly cheer them on. So will most of the brain dead populace. If Fox News really had any balls they would air a documentary about the lasting effects of dropping depleted Uranium over Fallujah.
Considering FOX News contribution to the fear mongering and Neocon John McCain's face-to-face meetings with a group of their leaders, an ABC 20-20 interview can't be too far in the future !
In addition to creating ben Laden, remember Reagan funded his Central American "freedom fighters" who were transmuted into the current drug gangs after Reagan's Iranian money dried up.
The best reason for not drilling is that EVERY WELL LEAKS! THERE IS NO WAY TO SEAL THE WELLHEAD ! Drilling underwater makes it worse! But there are thousands of abandoned wells all over the old oil States that are not sealed at all and provide methane to the atmosphere and in some case's have seeped oil into aquifers1
Who is the Lone Idiot? The one who voted "no" on this one. Everyone should know that the Repugs in Congress would not pass a "Hope for World Peace" if it came from Obama.
as usual, the poll neglects other choices. of course, his budget won't pass without gop watering-down. but, like their futile "repeals" of obamacare, his budget will set a mark for them to aim at, and will maybe make them look petty or uncaring. so it doesn't matter that it won't pass.
Intermittent in...,Without well organized democratic organization, institution or union based in public consent, the dictates to politicians will remain in the hands of the well organized, well funded and deeply committed wealthy elites and their functionaries.
chuckles, that's the real trick isn't it. I have ideas on the subject of creating some kind of grassroots movement, but I've not inspired much buzz with those ideas so far.
I wasn't talking voting as a solution to our problems; however, my ideas would still require mass participation in order to succeed. I was thinking more of people based democratic unions, organizations and institutions that would counter limited representative government here in the US. Using collective people power v. the financial power of wealthy elites.
The news media networks mentioned are a few of what I used to call the "Seven Headed Dragon." In California, that would be channels, 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 13. Of course they are members of the bigest corporations that are sucking the life out of the United States with their propaganda and favoritism for the bought and paid for criminal politicians within our government, (which seems hardly like our government anymore) along with anything from big pharma to big oil. Yes, folks, the people of the U.S. are in big trouble, and the only thing that whips up on big money is a big F-ing civil war. If things keep going the way they are, that is the inevitable future we will have to look forward to.
I have recently written to my representative in Congress Blaine Luetkemeyer, and Senator Clare McCaskill. This would be the second email I've sent to Luetkemeyer asking the Congressman to reconsider his support for the TPP.
I did start a forum thread to anybody interested in Thom's forums. In the forum, I've posted the response that I receive from Rep. Luetkemeyer, and it is all about support the TPP. I was hoping others would include their letters to my forum post, so we could compare and contrast the different responses. I will provided the link below for anybody interested in this project.
Thom, you are bringing up issues daily that by themselves are tragic. As you put together this puzzle of atrocities, are you beginning to see a pattern? If you think that there may be a bigger picture agenda behind all this, you may have hit the nail on the head. Chemtrails, aspartame, fluoride, GMO's, possible economic/banking collapse, Shall I go on? Okay, wars created to steal land and resources, banking bailouts, suspicious deaths of whistleblowers in the 1000's over the past few decades, TPP, the patriot act, half of our bill of rights being denied, shall I go on? The list is endless, and if you read about the Georgia Stones, Agenda 21, depopulation agenda, UFO disclosure being denied, you almost have to come to the conclusion that these issues may all be connected, and then you have traveled far enough down the rabbit hole to realize that some very powerful people/corporations have been pulling the strings for centuries.
The travesties and injustices you write about are for the most part being perpetrated by the same entities, in order to gain full control over the masses, and to dumb down society. An apathetic and ignorant public is much less likely to unite to demand change, and to throw these war mongers out of office. Time to WAKE Up people!!!
Because the TPP is being negotiated in secret, it's probably a lot worse than the leaks suggest. And the leaks indicate it's a horrible agreement. The only thing I've heard on the major news outlets is that we need the TPP so that we can compete with China and Russia. Only on alternative news--Common Dreams, Thom Hartmann, Jim Hightower's Lowdown, Daily Kos, Flush the TPP, Citizens Trade Campaign, Public Citizen, Electronic Frontier Foundation, Crooks and Liars, 350.org, etc.--will you hear or read about the horrors that the TPP will visit on the middle class.
People need to do several things: (1) contact their congressional representatives and get on their tallies as being against the TPP and against fast-track trade authority, (2) spread the word far and wide and don't assume that contacting senators and members of congress is a lost cause, (3) start listening to and reading alternative news sources, and (4) join a demonstration in their area if one is available or start one if they can. I believe that Popular Resistance and/or Flush the TPP has a map detaiing demonstrations around the country.
chuckle8 - re #20 - the good news is that many of that 83% are also likely in the 67% (or whatever) that doesn't even bother voting. Thinking that if people actually had something - a party, platform, agenda, movement, that they knew was working to advance their interests,.. (not just the "special" interests) ...they might get more involved... (???)
President Status Quobama has included special little gifts to help sell off our Civil Works in that budget so I'm glad the R's are distracted by his suntan!
It seems that under TPP China can build a Factory in the USA with foriegn materials and LABOR, ignore all Codes, Electrical, Plumbing, structual or ENVIRONMENTAL Regulations, Staff the Factory with FORIEGN WORKERS! USE ALL THE WATER THEY WANT! POLLUTE THE LOCAL AREA ALL THEY WANT! and, when the plant blows up and kills people, THERE WILL BE NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT?
because our sovereinity has been sold out along with our human rights, just like Marx proposed as the ultimate result of capitalization.
I still don't get this "oil rush". From my sources, and they are not the major media, I read that, for instance, coal production is down in most countries, and in China of all places a region known for coal production that had four hundred mines is down to seventy, and . . . they are replacing it with renewable sources. What that tells me is that even "if" they use oil, it will likely be more of a backup source of energy, rather than a staple source of energy.
So much for China, but in the States, if the solar, and the hybrids catch on, as well as the bio-fuels, too, what is the point of drilling for more oil. The Dutch model is clear enough, where they have been replacing the oil they "import" by wind power from the North Sea. Can't see why wind power can't be used off of that Atlantic Coast, as the Dutch "farm" for their energy needs along the North Sea.
Then too, if the price is going down, where is the profit. Asssuming the American economy is not doing as well, and the average incomes are "less", how many cars, how many anythings will need as much the level of energy that requires all that fossil fuel?
Already, in the UK, there are "redundacies" aka layoffs on the off shore North Sea oil rigs. Yeah, the demand for fossil fuels is less. The trend it seems in major industrialized nations, perhaps including the United States of America is towards alternatives. Figure the Southwest with it abundance of sun, that solar battery powered cars might make sense enough for enough people, at least in the major urban concentrations that . . . Texas and Oklahoma fossil fuels might be less essential for getting around, even in Texas and Oklahoma, perhaps.
Indeed, maybe there might be layoffs of the personnel at oil fields in those states. Who knows. That Obama promotes these projects doesn't make sense to me, but so much of what the current president promots doesn't appeal to me anyway.
When I read about what is going on, from where I sit, I don't know whether to cry to shrug my shoulders.

and they all know it and don't care!
I've already seen an ad come up based on my private Facebook messages. Or at least it seemed that way; it could be a coincidence.

I did find an article in the Washington Post responding negatively towards the TPP.

Scream no regulation changes from 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon disaster!
We do not need the Pipeline!
Our economy will grow and create jobs in a new industry! Americans come together and use our resources...... Wind, Solar, Biothermal etc...
We can put our attention to boosting our economy instead of this stupid pipeline.
Thank you
