Why is this teacher trying to bring BS such as transcendental meditation into her classroom?!

Another idea for the use of flags in OWS is to make US flags with a big green dollar sign instead of stars and plant them on the grounds of unpatriotic multi-national corporations. (It should be done in a non-defacing way.)

BTW, a friend of mine in Chicago says the teachers' union there is about ready to strike.

    RE: The Occupations

I have come to think of The Occupations as a permeating mist that is beginning to cover the world. Every time the mist finds a crack in the bulwark that the 1% have errected, they seep in carrying the illuminating torch of truth and freedom to expose those that would prefer the darkness to light.

When we hear report after report of police brutality, like the woman's account Thom played a few times who was denied a mattress in jail, toilet paper, forced to go to the bathroom in a hole in full view of any male guard who walked by, etc., or hear/see video of poilce beating, pepper spraying, etc.--why won't local and state governments do anything about this? We have ZERO credibility when we talk about tactics used in other countries when we do the same things here. And everyone around the world hears and sees this. Shouldn't that matter to us? Too many police are on a power trip, with little to no regulation of their abuses. It's disgusting.

About the building that was occupied by general strikers last night in Oakland...

From the Oakland Tribute live blog: http://www.insidebayarea.com/top-stories/ci_19247017

10:30 p.m. Protesters take over vacant building -- About 100 protesters have stormed a building on 16th street, the site of the former Travelers Aid Society, and have hung a banner reading, "Occupy Everything."

    10:34 p.m. Building takeover was pre-planned
As hundreds of people gather at the building at 16th and Telegraph, some are passing out fliers bemoaning the nonprofit organization's loss of funding.

The Travelers Aid Society helped homeless people, but lost funding during government cutbacks, protesters say. They have broken in, turned on the lights and are occupying the building to protest the cuts.

About 200-300 more people have headed over to join the initial group of protesters.

10:52 p.m. Vacant building had been foreclosed, according to flier
The taken-over building that formerly housed the Traveler's Aid Society was foreclosed upon, according to the flier distributed by protesters.

"Since then, the space sat vacant, as though it were disposable to those with the keys," the flier reads. "To us this space is invaluable. We are reclaiming it for the people. It is now open for our use."

The flier's authors say the space is open to the aid society if it wishes to return, and will otherwise be turned into a library and workshop for Oakland residents.

"This space is an example for the country," the note concludes. "When the political and financial systems of this nation fail to provide needed services, we must do it ourselves. We are the 99 percent. This is our future."

11:51 p.m. Quan wants to talk to protesters
Mayor Jean Quan wants protesters who've taken over the Traveler's Aid building to call her at 510-238-3141 to discuss turning the building over and returning it to the Traveler's Aid Society, said deputy mayor Sharon Cornu.

Quan has read the note protesters are distributing and wants to talk to them.
    ...
Midnight. 100 police with gas masks converge on occupied building

Until we correct the mutiple ELECTION FRAUD issues, we can't effectively do ANYTHING to fix the many areas of corruption that surround and permeate our world.

  • Things are getting very interesting in Oakland   13 years 40 weeks ago

I have just read this article by a past Prime Minister/ Treasurer of Australia Mr. Paul Keating. I thought some of you might find it interesting. It is from the "Brisbane Times Newspaper" 3rd November, 2011 . Here are his comments on occupy Wall Street: " Mr Keating also weighed in on the anti-corporate-greed Occupy Wall Street movement, which has spawned spin-offs around the world but has been accused of lacking clear goals.

He said his only surprise was that such protests in the United States had not appeared earlier, for example at the height of the global financial crisis in 2008.

"In the United States between 1990 and today, real wages have not increased, whereas in Australia real wages have increased by 36 per cent," he said.

"If you were in the Democratic Party in America you would hang your head in shame [at the lack of progress]."

Mr Keating appeared at the Brisbane Writers Festival event to promote his new book, After Words: The Post-Prime Ministerial Speeches.

HIS Judge - OVERSEES Child Abuse Cases??? Video showing him Violently Beating his 16 year old daughter! By: SherrieQA

"Judges think they are above the law it seems as well as all of our Government officials!

This video is one of the most disgusting videos I have ever seen. I almost cried when I watched it!

This video shows a man beating his 16 year old daughter with a belt and saying the foulest things to her! Using the F word over and over and saying she doesn't deserve to live under his roof! It seems her crime was she downloaded some music files onto her computer!

The man has been identified as Judge William Adams from Texas - but get this...... He presides over CHILD ABUSE CASES!

WARNING - Very Violent Abuse and Disturbing video! It is very hard to watch!" end quote www.whatreallyhappened.com

    Settlers Stone Elderly Palestinian LadyTags:

"A group of Jewish settlers Monday stoned an elderly Palestinian lady as she was picking olives in Mukhmas, a village southeast of Ramallah in the West Bank, according to local sources.

The 80-year-old woman was reported to be injured in the head and transferred to hospital for treatment.

WHAT MANNER OF HUMAN BEINGS DOES THINGS LIKE THIS?!? ATTACKING AN ELDERLY WOMAN WITH STONES, AS SHE IS HARVESTING OLIVES? For anyone with any shred of morality, (let alone, religion), how in heaven's name can this be considered to be "right" or "good"?

The short answer, for any truly moral human being on this planet, it can't.

There are moments when I am ashamed of my own species folks, and this, absolutely, has to be one of them." end quote www.whatreallyhappened.com

I said both based on the man from the Oakland police that Thom spoke with today stating that the methods used were left to the police and I also said both because maybe the Mayor should have taken a little more resonsibility or at least waited until she was in Oakland before allowing something like this.

THIS month businesses of all sorts are gearing up for the after THANKSGIVING CHRISTMAS sales.

LETS consider a CHRISTMAS strike against big business. CHRISTMAS for kids only.

GIVE yourself a CHRISTMAS present by using the money normally spent on CHRISTMAS presents toward an extra credit card payment or car payment.

BUSINESSES will be overstocked and after CHRISTMAS will have major markdowns.

Strikes and shut downs are the last infuriating expressions of despair. I feel that the Own Oakland will balloon towards change. What else do we the oppressed have to offer?

When I was in business school working towards my B.S. Degree in the late 1960’s, I was required to take a course in Ethics and Morality. There are happenings today that I see which go way beyond the common accepted code of Ethics and Morality.

And, I suggest to those 1% persons who are burdening the rest of us to read Matthew 25 in the New Testament Bible…

Not a good idea, in my opinion. The tea party is strongly tied to the Republican party and corporate sponsors through organizations like Americans for Prosperity and Freedomworks. Tea party politicians in Congress have stressed their pro-corporate and anti-regulatory, trickle down economic stances. They do not believe in greater taxation of the already wealthy. Those seem pretty much the opposite of what OWS is seeking. In the event that individuals who actually agree with the ideas of OWS also have some sentiments with the tea party, they certainly should be welcomed into OWS, but should not try to bring the pro-corporate, anti-regulatory, trickle-down, anti-tax-of-the-wealthy ideas with them.

A general strike, yessssssssssssssssssssssssss! Go Oakland, lead by example. Money is what the 1% understands, and denying them their most precious is, well, precious. They had their chance with trickle down economics to shower us with their gratitude, now it's time to turn back the clock to economic systems that worked before the rise of supply side economics!. My latest cartoon is about the 1%'s stellar economic rise at the expense of the 99%. www.whatnowtoons.com Left of center political cartoons

The police are at fault here. There are no excuses for their gestapo like behavior.I believe they received very clear instructions on just how far they should go. The police chief would have given them their "pep" talk. My question is: who gave the orders and money to the police chief? I do not believe their behavior was spontanious. Just as in the riots in Chicago were staged with plain clothes police, who were instructed how to incite the crowd, I think it was much the same in Oakland.
