9/11 Christian Center? Wouldn't St. Paul's Chapel, part of the Trinity Episcopal Chuch be just that? You can actually see the WTC site from it's grounds. And, St. Peter's Catholic Church (the oldest Catholic parish in NYC)is also in the area.
"Opened in 1766, St. Paul's Chapel is Manhattan's oldest public building in continuous use - a place where George Washington worshiped and 9/11 recovery workers received round-the-clock care. Part of the Episcopal Parish of Trinity Church, St. Paul's is a center for worship and the arts, a community of reconciliation, and a place of pilgrimage for all people"
"Victory mosque"? Can any right-wing people explain why they call it this, beyond it being obviously emotional wording designed to incense people? And why do people fall for it, time and time again?
How come rightwing people scream about George Soros who they pretend funds everything liberal (wish it were so), but when Saudi princes fund things like Fox News, they're good with it. Isn't 't that a tad hypocritical?

Respectfully, read the post, I did not imply that Jackson was the 1st Democrat, I was referring to the 1st Americans--the Native Americans, and check your history, even a child's library book will confirm Jackson's role in extermination, it was even referred to as such. As far as the remarks about Palin, find something else to talk about, nobody has time to listen to childish insults.
Is a Zionist someone who seeks utopia for Israel while excluding other countries and people? Zionism is at odds with Shalom.
Shalom
Here is what America and the world need in order to attain peace and justice on our planet for all of God’s children. Here is also what I believe God wants for His children and His vision for the world.
Shalom translated means peace but it is much more than peace. Shalom is a vision of social wholeness; a state of well being for all, where everyone has access to the goods of creation intended to meet the needs of all. Shalom is the substance of the biblical vision of one community embracing all creation where all enjoy the resources that make communal harmony joyous and effective.
Shalom is nothing less than God’s intended vision of the world, a dream of God that resists our tendencies for division, hostility, fear, lust, and misery. If there is to be well-being, it will not be just for the isolated and insulated individuals, it is security and prosperity granted to the whole community: the poor, the widow, the orphan, the immigrant, the tax collector and the sinner, the despised and the rejected, young and old, the have and the have nots, the powerful and the dependent. We are in it together. Together we stand before God’s blessings and together we receive the gift of life. Shalom comes only to the inclusive embracing community that excludes no one.
Here is the story! I FAVOR IRAN DEVELPING A NUCLEAR POWER PLANT!!! Iran is running out of oil within the next twenty years and she needs nuclear energy to hold off the depletion of her oil. Israel strongly encourages violence in the Middle East because she cannot tolerate harmony. Is Israel seeking the genocide of all Muslims in the Middle East. Israel invaded Lebanon because the Christians and the Muslims were living in harmony. Long live harmony in the Middle East without Israel (chicken little) and her screams that the sky is falling.
I am only a messenger that is reporting to you the message from several sources. The message hurts but it must be spoken loud and clear.
Silence Speaks
American soldiers have been killed in Iraq for the Bush lies. I want to remind my Church that she cannot remain silent on the many moral issues. SILENCE ON MORAL ISSUES SPEAKS LOUD AND CLEAR AND THE MESSAGE IT SENDS TO PEOPLE SPEAKS OF INDIFFERENCE TO THE PLIGHT OF MANY AMERICANS WHO CURRENTLY LIVE UNDER AN OPPRESSIVE REGIME.
The former sheriff of Wayne County, Michigan, William Lucas gave a talk that my wife and I attended. He said that when we do nothing, we are doing something. He also said that to say nothing we are talking loud and clear. What he was saying, that inaction, silence, or both conveys a message that we are condoning the behavior of people that may very well be hurting other people. Social injustice and immorality hurts other people and we cannot remain silent or sit idly by and do nothing.
What we must do is to keep in mind the words of Jesus in Matthew 25: 31-46. The central theme of this biblical verse says, “When you do it for the least of My brethren, you do it for Me”.
Silence Speaks Volumes
Martin Luther King Jr. from his jail in 1963 said, “We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of bad people, but for the appalling silence of good people.”
Cindy Sheehan regrets that she did not scream out at Congress and say, Congress, don’t you dare abrogate your constitutional rights and responsibilities! Do not under any circumstances give the keys to our country to power-drunk, irresponsible, and reckless maniacs.
When George said, “If you’re not for us, you’re against us”, Cindy Sheehan will forever regret that she did not phone and scream, “I am so against you and your repulsive policies, you self-important man. I am against killing innocent people and I am against you telling me it’s unpatriotic to be against you and your murderous philosophy!”
YES, AMERICA, ENGLAND, AND ISRAEL ARE THE TRIAD OF EVIL!
@gharlene, Germany's treatment of Jews and non-Jews was a mortal sin that damns the human soul. Israel's treatment of Palestinians, Lebanese, and Iranians is a mortal sin that damns Israel's soul. A mortal sin is a mortal sin. The United States of Hell's treatment of Americans and non-Americans is a mortal sin that damns her soul. Our nation is a damned nation.
I agree to raising the cap to $1 or $5 Million and allowing a means testing for when those higher payers are old enough to collect, if the are still millionaires then they are unlikiely to need the benefits so it goes to someone who does, if they have lost everything in the market then they will have more they can take out but not like many millionaires can survive well as a few Hundred a week.
I remember some friends screaming 2 years ago about individuals no longer being allowed to hide earnings overseas, many overcame this by Incorporating their name and becoming a business but Iraq contractors and such were nosw faced with losing tax haven status and having to pay taxes on anything over the $84.500 limit. If businesses have the same rights as persons, they also have the same lack of rights and therefor are also banned from basing earnings overseas or in tax havens. 1 rule for one, 1 rule for everyone and as a business is a one, they obey as we do.
If a company is headquartered overseas in a tax haven, it ceases to be a US company and therefor no longer under US law and protected by US regulations and rules. If they want to have protection they come back under the roof and bring their wallets with them, this will stop all need to increase retirement age and charge any more for individuals when companies pay their fair share for equal rights and representation. If teh Right want tax breaks for individuals, they can have it paid for by taxes from companies and everyones tax rates can tehn be lowered. So-called US companies headquartered overseas will no longer be permitted to refer to selves as US or fly the US flag or employ US citizens without or operate on US soil without gaining a very expensive permit to do such. No more Social Security Shortages especially when they have to operate on US soil where many Americans and Resident Aliens will welcome them with open job applications.
Oh no, now the cover up artists know who will disclose the truth, they only need to tap and monitor one countries internet traffic to see where information is coming from and going to, this plan was obviously initiated by the insidious control freaks of the flying flapjack makers.
Nice to see somewhere that truth is still considered important enough to be protected by more than 200 year old parchment and little else. I wish Iceland well and hope that people with things to get out will be able to get their information there but the first problem with that is, they have to learn from the weakia (weak media) that this exists.
Richard, do you still believe "Palestinians" (your scare quotes, not mine) are not a nation, but a "marketing gimmick" (your term)?
I'll post here (with minor mods) what I posted to you the other day. The first part was to "Gerald", the guy who was spewing "Israel=nazigenocidehitlerblahblahblah" all over the page. The rest was to you.
Wow, Gerald, you're a piece of work, that's all I can say. Have you checked your meds lately? Israel's policies toward the Palestinians can be quite nasty, but it falls far short of Nazism or genocide. Drawing equivalencies between the two is odious.
Now, as to Richard, I'm tempted to say the same thing. Putting the term "Palestinians" in scare quotes is quite a cute (but old) rhetorical device, which I'm surprised is still being used by some throwbacks. As a Jew and a Zionist myself, I am often amazed that (some) Palestinians (or "Palestinians") and their supporters deny Israel's "right to exist" -- but we deny that the Palestinians exist at all. That's the same drivel I was force-fed in Hebrew school some 30 years ago.
You may have heard of Ze'ev Jabotinsky, the founder of the Revisionist movement within Zionism, which gave birth to both the IZL (Irgun Zva'i Leumi, often shortened to "Irgun" -- a right-wing Zionist group viewed by both the British and the Hagana as terrorists, to which future Israeli PM Menachem Begin belonged, and the even more extreme LHI (Lohamei Herut Yisrael, or "Stern Gang", to which future Israeli PM Yitzhak Shamir belonged). Here's what he had to say about your scare-quoted so-called marketing gimmick:
"Today the Jews constitute a minority in [Palestine]; in another twenty they could well be the vast majority. If we were Arabs, we would not agree to this either. And the Arabs are good Zionists too, like us. The country is full of Arab memories. ... I have been accused of attaching too much importance to the Arab national movement. [Some say] I admire this movement unduly. But the movement exists...."
--Ze'ev Jabotinsky, Prague, July 1921, remarks to meeting of the Actions Committee of the Executive of the World Zionist Organization. (Quoted from Paul R. Mendes-Flohr, ed. A Land of Two Peoples: Martin Buber on Jews and Arabs (Oxford Univ. Press 1983, 1984 paperback edition), p. 6). Emphasis added.
He wasn't alone.
"[We] may be a people without a home, but alas, there is not a country without a people....Palestine has an existing population of 700,000, a people who have lived there for centuries and rightfully consider this country as their fatherland and homeland. That is a fact which we must take into account. ... [A] relationship [of mutual trust] can only be established if those who are the newcomers -- and such are we -- arrive with the honest and sincere determination to live together with the other people on the basis of mutual respect and full consideration of all their human and national rights. ... World public opinion cannot forget the existence of a large native population in Palestine; the growing sympathy with the aspirations toward national self-determination of the native peoples will make Zionism unpopular in many circles, *not out of anti-Jewish feelings but out of consideration for the natural rights of the Arabs.*"
--Robert Weltsch, editor of Zionist weekly Judische Rundschau, editorial, August 1925. Quoted in Mendes-Flohr, pp. 14-15. Emphasis added.
That was in 1925, in case you missed it, and Jabotinsky's quote was from 1921.
And then there was Martin Buber in 1929:
"Assuredly there are many aspects of the Palestinian Arabs which are annoying to us (just as there are things in us which, in certain respects, are displeasing to me); but we must not ignore the fact that among them the connection with the land -- something which will take us a long time still to accomplish -- has taken a positive, even organic, form; it is an accepted fact which is no longer even considered. ...
"We have not settled Palestine together with the Arabs but alongside them. Settlement 'alongside,' when two nations inhabit the same country, which fails to become settlement 'together with' must necessarily become a state of 'against.' This is bound to happen here -- and there will be no return to a mere 'alongside.' But despite all the obstacles in our path, the way is still open for reaching a settlement 'together with.' And I do not know how much time is left to us."
--Martin Buber, October 1929, "The National Home and National Policy in Palestine," in Mendes-Flohr pp. 87-91 passim. Again, emphasis added.
What's that? He was talking about the "Palestinian Arabs"... in 1929? Without scare quotes? What could he have been thinking?
So much for your scare quotes around the name of a nation, Richard. Do us all a favor, eh? Please show restraint and refrain from being . . . well . . . yourself on any posting you make regarding this topic.... OK? Thanks.
The opposition to this so called "Mosque" is supposedly on behalf of the memory of the brave first responders that lost their lives on 911? How about asking Congress to explain themselves for denying extended healthcare for the surviving first responders that are sick and dying because of the contaminates they encountered saving lifes? How can these surviors be forgotten? The tax breaks for corporations that have moved to the Caymans and Dubai to avoid paying their fair share of taxes are more important than funding healthcare? It is shameful.
