Because of the Internet, people can spend vast amounts of money on shopping too. While it's not gambling, it can be addictive and you can go into debt. I wouldn't want someone curtailing my ability to spend whatever I want on clothes because they were doing it in my best interest. I'm not a child. And if I get myself in debt (and I have somewhat at times), then I am responsible for paying it off and I then make a concerted effort to control myself. So I don't really understand the need to stop adults from throwing their money away on gambling (when they can instead throw it away on an awesome wardrobe).

I could see us helping Israel if (1) they were poor and (2) it was under a huge and unfair assault by others and they couldn't defend themselves. Really, the only weapons we should be spending money on is if we were attacked by outer space aliens. Then I'd get it. Otherwise, I think arms are such a waste.

Holy crap Gerald . . . Drop knee-jerk, mindlessly hyperbolic rhetoric about Israel.
Israel does not seek the genocide of the folk who label themselves “Palestinians.” In fact since the Arabic neighbors of the “Palestinians” abandoned all support of Gaza and the West Bank, the major of support for the “Palestinian” territories has come from Israel. The “Palestinian” territories remain a huge/gigantic drain upon Israel’s resources and Israel craves peace in the region so they can get on with own business.
The running issue is the sovereign nation of Israel is being forced to attempt to make peace with a marketing gimmick composed of flesh and blood humans, designed with the specific intention to destroy it. Financial backing of the “leadership” comes from folk whose rhetoric for the last 60 plus years has been the destruction of Israel. Peace is difficult to obtain when that folk cross the table shoot thousands of missiles at you civilian population every time you stand down. The “leadership” of the “Palestinians” has zero interest in peace or anything remotely looking like it.
You exhibit a marked tenancy to toss about NAZI references about nearly everything but they are offensive to folk with any relationship to that period of history and have no relationship to the topic at hand. The Christ that you go on about so often would mostly likely consider your characterization of this subject dramatically outside of Halakaic parameters . . . SO please show restraint and refrain from being . . . well . . . yourself on any posting you make regarding this topic.
Whatever Israel wants, Israel gets. Another question for the Tea Baggers. Why is it ok to give millions (actually, I think it's a billion a year) to Israel to arm them but it's not ok to help an American industry get back on its feet? Just wondering.

Israel Places Order For 20 F-35s; U.S. Picks Up The Tab
Israeli defense minister Ehud Barak approved an order for 20 F-35 Joint Strike Fighters in a deal valued at around $2.75 billion, according to Haaretz. The Israeli Air Force expects to take delivery of the first aircraft in 2015. The article quotes Barak saying the F-35 costs $96 million a copy. The entire deal will be funded by American military aid.

The constant Republican attcks and lies have put President Obama on the defense and he needs to go on the offensive and show the country how un-American the Right Wing really is. I was sure that the Radical attack on the First Ammendment by these forces had given the President his chance to get back on message, energize his base, and defend our constitution against these insidious attacks! The Right-wing media had surely obviously overreached by attacking this Moslem community center!! And on Friday, I thought Obama was going to tun the tide. But, after comments by Harry Ried and now Hoard Dean, I am oncne again desparing of the fate of our country. How can he demonstrate the bankruptcy of their ideas, and take advantage of this opportunity when Reid and Dean don't see this as an attack on the First Amendment? Oh well, I'm sure the next over-reach by these Right-winger will be even more outrageous--I just hope that it is not too late!!
So whenever Tea Baggers cry about health care reform or helping the US auto industry, we should ask them over and over and over about the costs of the needless war with Iraq. We should bring up that the Bush Administration said it would pay for itself. And we should ask why they aren't troubled by the debt we now have to pay because of that war. And not ever let it go, just like they never let anything go. Don't they still talk about ACORN? If they can make issues out of non-issues, we should be able to make issues out of actual issues.

Bringing manufacturing back to the USA will require reversal of the hideously insane trade policies that have rewarded corporations who move American jobs to take advantage of slave labor in underdeveloped countries. Protectionism? YES! Bring it on!!! Tarriffs for imported products along with new tax policies that reward corporation for bringing jobs back to the US from abroad. The only thing that trickle down economics really did was deceive America by its slow-motion, almost under the radar revolution. While I agree with some of the ideas mentioned yesterday on the show to double social security, I can't believe you simply let slide the suggestion to eliminate the mortgage deduction. Can you imagine the absolute havoc this would wreak on the real estate market? For one thing, if you think that the current mortgage default crisis is severe, it wouldn't hold a candle to that which would be created by essentially reducing the takehome pay of middle-income current homeowners by a significant percentage, rendering them vulnerable to default. Also, this measure would drastically reduce the value of real estate, further harming an already shaky real estate market and immediately rendering more millions of (again mostly middle-income) homeowners "underwater" in their mortgages. All in all, a VERY bitter pill and a poor idea that should be opposed...
