It is almost impossible to find anything made in America anymore. I am sick and tired of going to stores like Macy's and seeing them charge $40 - $50 for an iitem that could easily be made by workers in this country and still provide a profit for the manufacturers and sales outlets. We have to start charging some form of tariffs that make it cheaper to manufacture items in the USA. Most countries do that to protect their workers but our government has been bought and paid for by politicians who protect these importers from legislation that would legislate tariffs just like Japan, Germany, UK, France, Switzerland and many other countries. They are practicing self-preservation and we need to do the same unless we want to end up as a third world country which is the way we are rapidly heading.

P.S. One more thought on the subject. Hours ago, while working out at the gym, I heard on their radio a clip from a speech made by the Governor of Connecticut (Sorry! I forgot his name...), regarding Friday's grade school massacre. Just a generic, cliche' sort of statement that went something like: "How could this happen?!" and then, "People are wanting answers... but there are no answers!" And I say, phooey to that; the hell there's no answers. There's nothing mysterious about it, folks, and for reasons already stated. Where greed trumps need in public policy, there comes a point where the strain of it takes too much of a toll on people's mental health. That's when casualties start to mount. It's always the most innocent & vulnerable who pay the ultimate price. These tragedies have occurred repeatedly, even at fairly regular intervals, throughout history... Here we go again. (SIGH)

Under corporate control, the U.S. Government has become the biggest terrorist organization in the world. Their impact on world stability, or lack thereof, is probably the greatest obstacle to achieving world peace and has been so for decades. It angers & grieves me no end, and fills my heart with shame. Like many fellow Americans who share this view, I've come to realize that our government really doesn't give a flip what we think or feel about any of it. They're bought & paid for by the Oligarchs and THAT'S who's got their attention. Essentially, what we've had here is taxation without representation. You need only take a good look at who's picking up the tab, and how that tax revenue gets distributed, to see who the REAL welfare recipients are in this country... and I can assure you, they ain't on food stamps.
Kend- your point is well taken. However I am not the U.S. government; I'm just one little citizen here. I don't make the kinds of decisions that lead to things like U.S. military bases stationed all around the world. I can assure you, this has never been a situation I have approved of. It does not please me to know my tax money is helping support these operations. In fact, it makes me ill. In my lifetime I have watched this country morph into something more akin to an empire, pushing its weight around the world stage like a big fat bully... with my money and in my name!
Honestly, parents lost their children. Families lost important adults. Give these people the time to grieve, then take huge steps to see that these types of situations do not happen again because SO MANY PEOPLE will demand regulations.
