    Super insight, Thom!

Amazing how when the rotten core is exposed (as you did with your research into that original hoax of ruling in that California case perpetrated three, or is it five?, generations ago), how the trajectory of the ongoing hoax is easier to see!

    Many thanks!

  • Is student loan debt a threat to our national economy?   11 years 44 weeks ago

We can make higher education affordable for all by ending the "trophy" positions with re-organization. We do not need a board of regents or chancellor on every campus. State universities could be better served with a state board. Remove the politically appointed real estate developers running our universities. Find those with an actual vision for higher learning. Invest more in solution science and less in discovery science.

We do not need 5 million dollar football coaches with their million dollar assistants. Tenure should end after 15 years. End the emmeritus program. When did higher education include a social program for retired professors? End payouts for political speeches. Sacremento state paid Palin $65,000 to speak. What possible enlightenment could she bring to the students? A recipe for jellied moose lips? There isn't a professor alive worth $350,000. Their exploited teaching assistants do all the teaching. They just talk. Who do you think pays for all these "trophy" positions? This enormous debt by students paid for all of it. Notice all the career politicians who fill these positions.

We can make higher education affordable. Education treasury bonds is the best instrument for payment by students. Remove the banks from exploiting this failed system. Allow a check box on our income tax form to go to the education treasury bond fund. High school students can earn these bonds with credit from grades and community service.

I urge the emmeritus professors to form free schools to allow free thinking much in the way as the early greek scholars.

  • Snowden finally leaves airport!   11 years 44 weeks ago

kuriouskat ~ The Constitution was written in simple English for everyone to easily understand. Also, you don't have to be a wise old person with a high level of education to know the difference between right and wrong. Even a child can tell when someone does something wrong. Snowden stood up for what he believed to be the right thing to do. He stood up against the most powerful and feared Government on the planet. He had a better understanding of what they are capable of than any of us. He sacrificed paradise, wealth, and all the pleasures the world had to offer a young man and risked his life to improve the world for everyone else. Just how is that not like Jesus or MLK? Remember, neither Jesus or MLK were further tempted by living in paradise with a six figure salary. They were poor, unemployed, and lived in ghettos. You forget, Snowden stands to lose much more than just his life. It is not for you to judge Snowden's character. Besides, you do a very poor job of it. That is for God and history to decide. As far as I am concerned I would be honored to dine at his table. Let Jesus and MLK decide for themselves if they want to accept that invitation. Just because he's still alive doesn't make him any less of a hero. Besides, I prefer my hero's to be alive, don't you? It gives us all someone to thank!

    King James Holy Bible

Quote The Book of Matthew quoting Jesus Christ:Matthew 19:16 ¶And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

23 ¶Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Better brush up on your scripture, my friend. Sounds to me like Snowden is starting to resemble Jesus description of a PERFECT PERSON. Verily, I say to you, with God all things are possible: Behold the Camel that passes through the eye of a needle.

  • Mitch McConnell doesn't keep "gentleman's agreements."   11 years 44 weeks ago

akunard ~ Excellent point! Holding up nominees is the job of every opposing party in the political game, isn't it? Especially if your intent is to only allow like minded bribe taking shills to get the high seats.

The way I see it, the real problem is going to be the timing of filibuster reform. Harry Reid is a bought and paid for shill of the Republican Party. He's doing everything he can to hand the Republicans The White House in 2016. I think he will push for filibuster reform and get it; but, not till just before the end of President Obama's term in office. If I read Reid right (I've been dying to say that) the plan is for him to disarm the Republican's main weapon of obstruction just in time to prevent the Democrats from using it against the Republicans. That way, politics in this little country of ours in the next 7 to 11 years will go from very very sad to extremely horribly bad following the 2016 election. President Obama will be an impotent leader till the end and then the Republicans will sweep in and have their way with the American People without any opposition. Not unlike the script Reagan and Bush played on Jimmy Carter in 1980. History repeats itself. That is why the timing in filibuster reform is more important than the reform itself.

I can't even begin to imagine the abuses of power that these Neo-Cons are capable of. Unfortunately, I won't need my imagination.

Of course, IN THE END, this is all merely smoke and mirrors to keep us distracted while multinational Corporations rape us. Enjoy the Blue vs Red puppet show!

  • Should cities use eminent domain to protect people from foreclosure?   11 years 44 weeks ago

A city here in CA is doing this very thing. Richmond. CA. There is a better way with more leverage if we formed state banks. Legislate the charters to include all foreclosures go to the state bank. The state bank sells in lots to local community banks at discount. I-charted banks that are formed to help out distressed school districts could include purchasing foreclosures as set asides for teachers. This is how we can organize to pare down the big banks while strengthening our local community banks. Create affordable home ownership for single income families, that is water and energy efficient. This is what we could do.

If we do nothing then the next generation will be renting from the world's wealthiest.

  • Snowden finally leaves airport!   11 years 44 weeks ago

I definitely consider myself to be a liberal, but the blog and comments are great examples of "bleeding hearts" whining on Snowden's behalf. I think one of the important things to consider here is whether you really want piss-ant, impulsive people like Snowden, who does not have the breadth of knowledge nor the sufficiency of judgment to make the determination, dumping US secrets out into the world. I know when I was 28 I thought I knew everything, too, and Snowden clearly thinks of himself as superior in knowledge and judgment. I might feel a bit more charitable toward him if all he did was reveal to the US citizenry what was happening re the NSA's spying. Where he lost my sympathy was when he decided it was appropriate to tell other countries they were included in the spying -- although I don't think they were really surprised because I believe they're doing it too -- and then fleeing to a communist country and then Russia. His ideals seem a bit skewed, if you ask me. Rat out the US, then run away to countries with horrific civil rights records. So, since he went as far as he did, he took himself out of the whistle-blower category for me, landing him more squarely in traitor territory. And, if he really had the courage of his convictions, he should have stayed and faced the music. Since he did not, that also lands him in the coward category. The fact that there are people on this page mentioning his name with the likes of Jesus, Martin Luther King, etc., is nauseating. Those genuine heros spent their lives in the pursuit of human rights and never ran from anything, even when they knew when they were in danger. To mention Snowden's name anywhere in the context of those others is ridiculous, shameful, and disrespectful to their legacies. Get a grip!

  • Mitch McConnell doesn't keep "gentleman's agreements."   11 years 44 weeks ago

This morning I went on CSPAN2. They had a
session of the National Governor’s Association
meeting of yesterday, Aug. 2, 2013, presented.

The first featured speaker is a doctor, previously
primary care doctor in Camden, New Jersey. I
suggest you listen to his speech then schedule
him for a discussion on your program. In the
questions after the talk the governor of Arizona
sked the typical question that assumes some of
the GOP political talking point myths, namely
that the high costs of medical care in the U.S.
is due to the high medical insurance costs and
that doctors are forced to do extra procedures
to prevent costly lawsuits. His answer was that
it is the Justice System and Lawyers, not the
    medical system that is broken.

Further he poointed out that the prices for the
somethink like 1500 listed procedures in the
medical lexicon are set by a committee of the
AMA meeding in Chicago. This price listing is
copyrighted and expensive to obtain. The
committee is composed primarily of specialists
and not primary care doctors so the prices are
set very high and the primary care practitioners
are out-voted by the specialissts. Interesting
    monopolistic practice!

    Cookies and Reagan on Fox?

Tom should check this out for gluten-free, non-GMO cookies:

    http://www.soulfullysweettreats.com/

This site was recommended by Bill O'Reilly, who's on a gluten-free diet. (I watch O'Reilly and Hannity to know what the right-wing is thinking)

And Tom would be interested in knowing that Sean Hannity on his TV show Thursday played parts of Reagan's medicare speech, but didn't say Reagan was speaking about Medicare, and instead used it as a generic way to attack Obamacare! I wish his guest had known to tell Sean, hey, that was Reagan predicting Soviet-style tyranny from Medicare.

So there you have it, cookies and Reagan on Fox.
